Mexican Society of Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy

In Mexico, the study of the female lower genital tract, with the use of the colposcope, initiated in 1940.

Dr. Julio Cesar Graham in the General Mexican Hospital S.S. started using the Colposcopy in the early detection of the cervical cancer with the help of the most modern European techniques of the time, training young doctors and encouraging them in the use of that new technology.

The Mexican Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology was created after several years when a group of specialist in Gynaecology and Obstetrics, all belonging to the Department of the General Hospital "Lic. Adolfo López Mateos" of the ISSSTE, was interested in developing a Society that could credit the doctors that where dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of the female lower tract’s pathology. After a curse in the city of Celaya, Gto. in the year 1990, where a group of doctors intervened, in which Dr. César Santiago Pineda, Drusso Vera Gaspar, Oscar Trejo Solórzano, Carlos Barajas and others where found, the statuses and rules, that where divided in XI chapters, where approved for unanimity.

In the constitutional ceremony the first executive committee was chosen, and considering their huge dedication in the exercise of this subspecialty, demonstrated by the organization of several national and international curses since 1985, Dr. César Santiago Pineda was elected as 1^st. President.

The Mexican Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology invites to the II INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS and the VI ANNUAL MEETING, from September 9 to 12 of 2000, in Mexico, D.F.

The IV Latin-American Congress of Colposcopy will be performed in Acapulco, Gro. from June 21 to 24 of 2001.
